Rutherford's Den
Ernest, Lord Rutherford is recognised world wide as the Father of the Atom. Born in New Zealand, he graduated here in 1894 at Canterbury College, Christchurch (now the site of The Arts Centre). He also began his lifetime research working at the forefront of electrical technology on this site.
Visitors can experience his life and science through dynamic multimedia, meet him in the Den where it all happened, listen to historic broadcasts and recollections of his character and be part of the daily life at Canterbury College in the 1890's.
