PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

  • ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Duration: 15 minutes (12 minute talk plus 3 for questions)
Powerpoint presentations must be downloaded onto the computer in the room where you are talking during the break prior to the session you are speaking in.

  • ORAL POSTERS

At the 2007 meeting in Wellington, a number of poster presenters were invited to also make short oral presentations of their poster. This worked so well that we have decided to build on this concept and make poster talks a feature of this 2008 NZMS meeting. This year however the poster talks will be incorporated into sessions with the plenary and other talks. The same rules apply though.

Each poster presenter will have 2 minutes, and a maximum of 5 slides in which to present the key concepts of their poster, and to entice people along to look at the actual poster.

Time will be strictly monitored with a bell rung after 2 minutes at which time anyone still speaking will be stopped, and the next speaker invited to start. No questions will be allowed - the actual poster sessions are the place for questions.

Poster presenters will be notified whether their poster has been selected for a 2 minute oral presentation on Friday October 10th.

Powerpoint presentations must be downloaded onto the computer in the room where you are talking during the break prior to the session you are speaking in. Due to the short time frame associated with these talks, failure to get Powerpoint presentations to the organisers prior to your session may result in you missing your presentation time slot.

  • POSTERS

Poster boards will be 1.0m wide by 1.5m long. Please bring VELCRO hooks to attach your poster to the boards. It is also recommended that you bring A4 size copies of your posters for the delegates to take away with them. These should be in a plastic envelope also attached to the poster board.
